UX Thursday #49

Illustration of, laptop, notebook, person reading

If the texts for today's compilation were chosen by a bot, you would probably have read about the report from the study of Polish chatbots, problems with learning (artificial intelligence) and the use of bots in the era of remote communication. Plus, a sample of design trends for 2021 and a handful of tips on creating an effective microcopy. We celebrate Bot Day.

Robot on the Cossack

On the portal dedicated to artificial intelligence we recommend text Maciej Chojnowski. The author briefly describes how and why data affects the quality of intelligent systems and describes methods for removing bias from (ro) bot actions.

For a bigger picture, it is also worth taking a look at page robot psychiatrist Dr. Joanne Pransky, who has been explaining to the world for years how humans and robots influence each other.

Do Poles need chatbots?

Apparently, Internet users in our country are not always ready to converse with a robot. Michał Duszczyk's article cites data from a recently published study on chatbots in several selected industries. You will find out, among other things, in which situations the user most often uses this form of communication and what can motivate him to do so. Report mentioned in the text can be downloaded on the website of the agency Symmetry.

Robots that build relationships with users

For the unconvinced, we recommend commodity Bojany Vojnovic, in which the author argues that it is worth investing in artificial intelligence to establish and maintain contact with customers. The text presents examples of the use of chatbots and briefly explains the potential benefits of human-bot interaction.

Tips on microcopy

When it comes to communication, take a look at text Yusuf Odukoy from the Branditechture agency dedicated to the creation of microcopy. In addition to a few general notes organizing information about communication within the interface, the author also presents a list of 7 simple but practical tips for designers.

Trends for 2021 from the perspective of users

Finally, we depart a little from the theme of today's holiday. The end of the year is approaching, so it is high time to analyze trends in design for the next 12 months. Vi Entries on the Prototypr.io blog, Alex Zlatkus proposes to take a user perspective by pointing out 4 areas that are worth paying special attention to when designing the interface (not only in 2021).
